The Florida Adolescent and Young Adult Sexual Health Network

 

FLASH is a community-based, youth-centered collective promoting diverse research, education, and health initiatives for LGBTQ+ folks throughout Florida. They stand for innovative, supportive collaboration and shining a flashlight on sexual health issues specifically impacting LGBTQ+ young people.


 FLASH is committed to:

  • Promoting the inclusion of young people's perspectives, their unique experiences, and their expertise on the needs of their own communities in public health planning and research
  • Partnering with community organizations, local governments, youth advocacy movements, social innovation entrepreneurs, and others who share their commitment to elevating youth voices
  • Cultivating a community of understanding and diverse voices to establish youth-led design and adult allyship as the norm across Florida


J.J. (He/Him)

Executive Director of FLASH

JJ earned his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, is a Board Certified Nationally Certified Counselor, and a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He works at the intersection of public & mental health and believes the key to change is transparency, representation, and congruence. JJ is an avid tennis player, compulsive book purchaser, and full time butterfly. He aspires to open up a private practice that provides non and medical case management & psychotherapy to predominately Black and Brown boys.
